Parliamentary questions come in two forms. Starred questions are eligible for an oral answer and follow-up questions on the floor. Unstarred questions receive written replies.
Across the session, 91.8% were unstarred. That pattern is partly procedural, but the distinction matters: an oral answer creates a live opportunity to challenge an incomplete response.
Read the denominator
The archive contains thousands of written answers and only a limited number of oral slots. A ministry's accountability therefore depends not only on how often it is questioned, but on which questions reach the floor and what happens after the first answer.
